Wakefield Families Together: Support for families in the Wakefield District

Wakefield Families Together brings services together, so that it’s easier for you to find and access the support you need, at the earliest opportunity.

We want children, young people, and families to tell us they are happy, healthy, and safe. Wakefield Families Together are about working on your behalf so that if you have a concern about your child or family member, you only need to have one conversation with us, and we can direct you to the right support. You can access this support through your child’s school, family hub, or in the local community.

To help us localise how we work with families across the Wakefield district, we have grouped our teams and partner organisations into six community ‘cluster’ areas, with nine family hubs and three Youth Hubs. You can find your local Family Hub or Youth on the Wakefield Families Together website here: Family Hubs – Wakefield Families Together and here: Youth Hubs – Wakefield Families Together

The Wakefield Families Together website, provides one easy place for families to find out more about the people, places, and services on hand to provide early help and support within your community. Everyone needs help and support at some point in their life. So, when you do and find it hard to deal with a difficult situation, or have worries around family relationships, behaviour, school attendance, emotional and mental health, domestic abuse, parental conflict, housing issues, or employment and debt problems, Family Hubs can help direct to the right people and services.

Because raising a family may have its difficulties and challenges, when you need support there is now one easy place you can access information and routes to find the help you need.  We call this ‘early help’.

You can watch the video What Is Early Help  for a short overview that will tell you what early help is and how to access it.

The website includes information about the ‘Team Around the School’ (TAS) TAS information here This is a support offer to families that brings together a team of professionals to help children and young people to access additional support when they are showing early signs that they find it difficult to cope.  We can support if you have concerns about their behaviour, school attendance or emotional health and wellbeing.  Schools in Wakefield work in partnership with the TAS which is made up of: the Children First Team (CF), Future in Mind Partnership which includes Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Primary Intervention Practitioners, and the 0-19 Health Service which includes School Nursing.

Whether it’s locating your nearest Family Hub, discovering groups to support you, accessing local activities, or simply understanding the professionals who can provide a pathway to help – the Wakefield Families Together website can help you to get the support you need.
